May is a marvelous month and this year I have a wonderful opportunity to take a sailing adventure with three of my good friends. It is no secret that I love sailing. My interest was sparked when I was 8 years old, my dad briefly showed me how and I was hooked. I have spent my entire life a family man with two main passions: 1) understanding medicine and its ability to heal patients on a variety of levels and 2) sailing the beautiful seas during my off time. I personally sailed throughout the Caribbean and the Northern part of South America as well as down the whole Eastern Coast, from Maine to Delaware. I'm seasoned at this type of travel and am looking forward to this time with my friends.
May is also special to me because it's Mother's Day. Although we should celebrate Moms every day, lets not forget to show love and spend time with those who we appreciate that fulfilled this role. My wife and I have raised four children together and I have witnessed first-hand that being a mom is not easy. It is an underpaid, overworked, unappreciated job. Although motherhood is rewarding during many stages of life, it is by nature a stressful, exhausting, and sometimes overwhelming role. So I'm sending a big hug to all moms out there. We appreciate you!
Lastly, my team is a group of animal lovers. They often talk about their dogs and cats and share funny pet videos. I'm a firm believer in the healing power of animals as they lend support and security to people who suffer with mental illness. We found a great article that confirms this theory and to celebrate the pet moms in my clinic we are sharing some images of special moments outside the office. If you have pet pal images you wish to share, please email them to us at info@ketamineclinics.com; we love hearing from you!
Thanks to my team who I am grateful for everyday. Their kind, committed, and supportive nature towards me and my patients is the best around.
Happy May!
Sincerely,
Dr. Steven L. Mandel
